The Foundation

(This was the 22nd poem I wrote. I wrote it on November 14th, 2003. I set a goal to reach this milestone and as I prayed before I wrote it, I had no idea that it was my 22nd. This one is powerful and says a lot. I had to say it, I just felt I had to.)


The power of God has been shown to so many
Over the years and throughout history
We have heard of the stories they all tell
But a foundation was laid and forgotten

A foundation in which Jesus Christ
Was the chief cornerstone and architect
So why are there so many differences in Him
Why must your belief be better than theirs

Is yours right and is his or hers wrong
Where did it say to divide this belief
Amongst the nations and within
Will you change yours to be like mine

No certainly not, yours is wrong
Yours is corrupt and doesn't show fruit
Mine is the one you all must seek
No his is the one, or what about hers

What ever happened to the Love for all
That Jesus Christ himself did teach
One God, One Bible, One Baptism
Love your neighbor like yourself

Put no other before God
And only through the blood of the Lamb
Are we saved by the grace of God Almighty
Faith in Jesus alone is the way

It is the only way to eternal life with Him
Not through Muslim, Not through Catholic
Not through Lutheran, Not through Baptist
Not through Jehovah's Witness, none of those

Not through Protestant, Not through Evangelical
Not through Buddha, Not through Allah
Not through any of these things you say
Only through Jesus, so why give it a name

In the Bible they are Saints who believe in Him
Faith in Him as He is the Christ
Only through Christ will ye be saved
For this we should all be of Christian for Him

Why must we all be different in faith
Why must we all have the idea to separate
Difference came up and separate they did
Now on who's accord was that manifested

Did the Evil one come and throw in a wrench
Did He come with hopes to deceive
Did the evil one come to keep us together
Did he come to help us in our way

What does it say in Mathew 16
And how did brother Peter answer
It talked about Jesus and who He IS
And it talked about the foundation

Peter was an apostle of faith
In Jesus Christ and of His Love
His mission was to spread the gospel
To the Jews of the circumcision

Not to Rome and not to Gentiles
That mission was given to Paul
Where did this idea get lost I say
It is written in His Word this way

Come together as He calls
Stop the separation
Be of Him and only of Him
Don't let the evil one laugh

Be of Petros upon the Petra
The solid rock upon a foundation
Built upon Jesus Christ the Lord
Upon which HE is the chief cornerstone

Not on anything else or way
Not on separate beliefs or cause
Not on mine or his or yours
Only in Jesus Christ is the way

You have been told in a loving way
You have been shown in many ways
You may have been false
You may have been wrong

Forgiveness is there, will you seek it
He will show you, He will guide you
All glory will be to the King
Love your neighbor, Love God most high

This is what Jesus did tell us
Did He say be this, did He say be that
Did He trick us in any other way
Certainly not, where did we go

Come back to Him this very day
Back to the foundation that He is
